Mitral Valve Prolapse
Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP) is a type of heart disorder occuring when the valve between your heart's left upper chamber and the left lower chamber does not close properly. When the left ventricle contracts, the valve's leaflets bulge, or prolapse, upward or back into the atrium. MVP can lead to blood leaking backwards into the atrium which is called mitral valve regurgitation.
I have mvp regurgitation, the click, and murmur. My mitral valve leaves backwards into my left atrium. This can surgically be fixed but it is risky. I also have poor circulation and swelling in my legs from time to time which can be (but is not always) signs of upcoming congestive failure, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, or heart failure.
